As is widely known, this hefty book is the ultimate tale of revenge. While the reading can be a bit wearisome, Dumas' meticulous construction of an immense network of characters framed within a tremendously detailed and extraordinary plot renders this 19th-century novel wholly unrivaled.

This was an amazing story! I loved every minute! Seeking revenge against those who wrong you does not necessarily bring about happiness, peace or satisfaction. In some cases, seeking justice may go too far and harm those whom are innocent. Poor Dante, condemned and robbed of happiness and family must find a way to still the rage that beats within his breast. Yet, only in the end does he realize that the path to happiness is forgiveness, accepting love that is given freely, and understanding that he is not the agent of providence. A magnificent piece of literature that is now one of my most favorite books of all time.

I like this book. I find that most long books are boring and dragged out more than they should be. This book, in my opinion, is moderately paced and easy to follow even though it has so many pages

I read the abridged edition, 600 pages. I hope to someday read the long version. My husband thought this was one of the best book's he's ever read and my daughter is also a fan (I liked it too).
