As is widely known, this hefty book is the ultimate tale of revenge. While the reading can be a bit wearisome, Dumas' meticulous construction of an immense network of characters framed within a tremendously detailed and extraordinary plot renders this 19th-century novel wholly unrivaled.

What I love about this book is one of the many lessons... If you want revenge, you may well get it. However, the price may be your humanity. I think this is the case with Dantes.

The one with Depardieu is much better than the American version. (in my personal opinion) I have see both, and the French version far surpasses the American.

There's not only the Kevin Reynolds' movie with James Caviezel and Guy Pearce(which I think sure is ok) but also a French TV-mini series with Gérard Depardieu.. here the revenge-part is much worked out more. First episode I had to get into it, but once I did, I thought it was fantastic and bought the series also. Maybe anyone likes to see that one too!! If anyone's got any similar-story tips I'd sure like to know :)!
