“The uber-horror novel. "Dracula" is just chock full o' chills and thrills -- as befits a book written by a man of the Victorian theatre -- and the title character ("inspired", to put it delicately, by Stoker's boss, the famed actor Sir Henry Irving) fairly drips with evil, lust, violence and all forms of hoodoo calculated to strike fear into the Victorian lady's heart. The forbidden allure of all manner of dark perversion simmers just under the surface, which makes it endlessly fascinating...”

Didn’t Like It

“Even though this is the beginning of the legend that is Dracula, on which uncountable movies, books, serials have been based, I felt it did not have the necessary elements that make a vampire story really fascinating. I think the writing style (in form of correspondance) did not lend itself to creation of the proper atmosphere. I am a huge fan of vampire fiction. I really had high hopes from this one as this is the one that started it all.”

“i loved this book, my brother read it for school and he kept telling me about it so i just had to read it and i couldn't put it down..i havent seen any of the movies but my brother has and he said they are nothing compared to the book..we always have brother sister conversations about this book and i loved the whole book its sad that they cant make a good movie for it... i mean if they did it all like the book it would be amazing ..i dont see why they always have to change the story just to make a movie”

As far as the movies go; I've pretty much seen them all. Not one really follows the book. The theme yes- but not the complete story as it reads.

Francis Coppola version was beautiful to see; but where did the creature (dracula) with the white puffy hairstyle and long dress... come from? And yes the eternal love... was a bit too much...

Every movie seems to take a piece here and there, but there has yet been a film to do this book justice.”

“For me, this is one of those weird situations where the movie is better than the book. Any movie pretty much. Even Dracula Dead and Loving it was more entertaining (and actually the closest to the book out of the 3 movies I watched). This book was just boring for me. I didn't see what the big deal was.”

Read a Complete & unabridged version, it made me cry (Lucy), jump (Dracula), and wonder (Van Helsing)these characters, nice classic read, Solid Starting & Superb Climax. Now have to look for The Jewel of Seven Stars & The Liar of the White Worm.

Abraham Bram Stoker's Dracula is a must read for Chill Thrill Horror & Suspense lovers
