Good book, you keep reading because you want to know what happens next.

This is the book that made me love literature in high school. I love the ugly protagonists, and it has my kind of ending.

What can I say? I love this book! I wish romance novels could come close to this these days. It is such a solidly moving romance novel without all the fluff that is published currently. I fell in love with Jane from the first chapter. This is a book I read every year.

A classic worthy of the name, faster starting than most and lively on a psychological level throughout, this story of battered people and enduring if uneasy love is worth a read by any tortured soul!

Another personal favorite. Jane Eyre has such an indomitable spirit. This illustrated edition is particularly special; the artwork reflects beautifully both the plot and mood of the narrative.

I read this book at least 20 times, mostly when I was a child, each time starting where I felt like reading and ignoring parts that I didn't understand. I didn't understand the character of St. John until reading that section as a teenager. I loved this book and I am changed for reading it. I think that this book gave me a very defined sense of justice. This book helped to cement my love of historical fiction. I don't find many teenagers interested in reading it today.

This book is a classic, I enjoyed it much more than Vilette, another of Bronte's novels.

I enjoyed this book, but at the same time I thought it was filled with a few too many deus ex machina moments. She leaves in the night and miraculously finds employment, and a cousin, and then SOMEHOW she knows to return to Rochester and he miraculously gets eye sight back in one eye. Come on! But if you like that sort of thing (and there isn't anything wrong with that, it's just not for me) this is the book for you. I guess my biggest problem with it is that all of Rochester's problems would have been avoided if he had just acted with logic. His wife's condition was certainly grounds for annulment, and he could have continued to support her financially and seen to it that she was taken care of. But then there would be no grand "romantic" story.

Classic literature at it's finest. Charlotte Bronte can not be reproduced. This book is beautifully written.
