How can you love heathcliff? he is a bitter, twisted monster. I spent the entire book wanting to beat him to a bloody pulp.

lulu s, I have to agree. I don't see how anyone could love Healthcliff. He is like a disease that destroys everyone and everything around him. I don't think twisted is a strong enough word to describe how horrible he is. I can't stand him or Catherine (either one). Actually, I hate this book period. It is too dark, depressing, cold and obsessive for my taste.

U have to fully understand the full depth of Heathcliff's character,if u do then u'ld be able to realize that Bronte meant for the reader to be torn between loving and hating him
