“Subtitle: A novel about the frightfulness and ruthlessness of being in love.
The prose is immaculate and very mid 20th century British so you have to get into the "flow and rhythm" of it. I love this line "His face ... had the crazy dazed look which is born of reckless behaviour or happiness." I would think love consists of both reckless behaviour and happiness simultaneously. This book makes you question, laugh, get angry, be impatient, ponder, wonder what's going on ... everything a good book should.”
