There are two stories in this tiny thin book. They were short but very understandable, very intriguing ... I personally liked it. Well, I liked only half. I liked one story more than the other, although I thought I'd love the other more than the one I turned out to love more. :P

The first story, Hardboiled hard a Miyazaki-esq feel to it which was great. I love the surrealism of Yoshimoto's stories. I only which there had been a third short story to round out the book it felt unfinished but maybe I just always want more.

I always like the surrelaist quality of Yoshomito's books. In this set of two stories, she has used memories innovatively. She has also highlighted the way memories can hold people prisoners. Good
