“Banana Yoshimoto is heartbreaking. She writes so sensitively and sensibly. I couldn't help loving this book so much more thn I intended to. Her characters are real, like they're really alive, and most of them are deeply disturbed and unhappy. It makes the reader want to reach out to them with empathy, and at the same time, look at the world with a new view. Look at the things that truly matter in this world.”

Didn’t Like It
“I didn't love this one. Left me pretty unimpressed, although it has won several awards in japan. Being unfamiliar with any popular. Japanese literature, I am glad to have read it, but I am also glad it was very short!”
