Western society has more wealth and possessions than any previous generation, but is less happy. Consuming for the sake of consuming, getting into more and more debt, spending more and more time at work, generating more and more waste, resorting to drugs to cope with stress. When the "Australian battler" or "struggling families" is one that earns more than AUD$60,000 a year, something is seriously out of step.
