I read this book to understand one of my selected audition monologues better. The plot of the story is quite dated now, but the characters themselves are quite original and strange. The Star-Spangled Girl herself, is quite a fun character, though I was disappointed in what seems to be such a common ending. "I can't stand you, but I love you" (well, she likes the way he smells at least.) I'd like to see this performed, but it would have to be put on right now or whenever the next major war starts to be relevant in any way. I also couldn't see it being performed anywhere except America, which is disappointing, but perhaps I'm underestimating the audience.
