“My group, Who Doesn't Love a Classic, will be reading and discussing this Austen classic for our January-February group read. Feel free to stop by and join in with your thoughts! ”
“"A man does not recover from such a devotion of the heart to such a woman! He ought not; he does not."Persuasion, Ch. 20”
“I love Anne Elliot character, she might have made a mistake by letting others change her mind and she regretes it for 8 long lonely years, but her love never ultered, you see how much she loves Wentworth even in her silence, even when he was intending to marry another, I love how she discripes their first incounter after 8 years: "Once so much to each other! Now nothing!...there could have been no hearts so open, no tastes so similar, no feelings so in unison, no countenances so beloved. Now they were as strangers; nay, worse then strangers, for they could never become acquainted."and I love Wensworth letter to Anne at the very end, when he askes her if he still has a chance to win her heart once again because his love never changed for it was always her and no one else that captured his heart."You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight and a half years ago. Dare not say that a man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant."”
“i have just started this book.....but i like the english though it definitely is a little difficult.....”
“this is Anne Hathaways fave book..FYI=)”
“So.. Is Anne.. is she or isn't she a like-able character? As a person she is most definitely good..but is being a good person -- too good, in my opinion -- good for being a protagonist?”
“So glad I read this. Fell more and more in love with it as I read further and further into the book. Reflecting upon it later, I sensed that Anne and I shared common qualities and experiences.”
“this is my first Jane Austen Book and it didn't disappoint. Though I find it hard to read "Old English" it was a refreshing experience, also love for the second time around excites me a lot.Its a must read classic.”
“I really like the comparison between Anne and Wentworth's other romantic interest. It really brought home the value of persuasion and tied it all together.”
