“Since I've only read two of Hoffer's books, this one is a collection of quotations from all his writings. As usual with Hoffer, full of insights. The only problem is with his economics, as illustrated in this quote from page 64:
"It is with prediction as with wealth: there is so much of it in a society, and when one person has most of it there is little left for others."
Just goes to show that how capitalism creates wealth is not intuitive, even for someone as brilliant as Hoffer. Maybe it was because he was a member of a labor union? I don't know, but he's wrong on this one. Other than that, the book is full of quotes that will make you nod your head in agreement.”
