“Fitzgerald's language is perfect, and it's a fantastic book. It has everything...New York, the rich life, the parties...a great read.”

I feel that this may be because there is a good plot to accompany the interpretive nature of the book. Besides this, it is a nice commentary on the American Dream as well as american ideals, pointing out their elusiveness and hollowness.
The story itself is about the narrator's interaction with several people after he moves to Long Island. He befriends his neighbor, Jay Gatsby, and then becomes hopelessly entangled in Gatsby's life in an effort to bring Gatsby and his old love Daisy back together. Unfortunately, just as this happens, Gatsby dies in a series of unpredictable events and Nick is left to interpret what had happened.
Central themes in the book include money and popularity, which survive as two of the most superficial ideals in America. The Great Gatsby is an excellent example of an American classic, as it combines excellent writing with the United States as its central theme. ”
“the ending wraps up so great”

This story told by one of the main characters tells a story about the story of Jay Gatsby, a very rich man who is in love with a woman named Daisy and tried to relive the past. I thought this book was very interesting, it is definitely different from the books that I usually read and what I thought it was about. I also watched The Great Gatsby movie after I read the book and thought even though the plot of the movie is the same as the book and most lines in the movie is directly from the book, I thought the book was better than the movie. The actors and actresses in the movie didn't exactly fit the descriptions in the book, especially Myrtle and Tom. And many of the dialogue is scrambled up in the movie. And since I already know what happens in the end, the movie didn't seem as interesting as the book. The book is a classic of the American literature and I would recommand it to anyone who likes to read about the American dream, love stories and overall, drama!”

It has been a completely different kind of text than I have read. The Great Gatsby has such strong writing, that you feel like you're living with the characters, but creates such an aloof feeling at the same time, like you're watching something that you shouldn't be. The ending is an ironic piece of artwork in itself. Throughout reading this, you feel for the characters, and want to cry with them, yell at them, etc. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in classics and being transported to a different time period. ”

The language he uses is absolutely beautiful -- I think that's what I love most. How every description is so uniquely his own that it grabs your attention and makes you imagine the picture he had in his head while writing it. I have read this book several times and I always discover something I hadn't seen before.
I think it also might be the entire theme of the book -- the American dream, it's cost, and it's consequences. This may very well be my favorite book of all time.”
“American Classic of course, not much to be said that hasn't already been.”

Durring his stay there he encounters many rich, snobby, and strange people. The most interesting person he meets is Jay Gatsby, a mysterious, kind man who lives right next door to Nick. There are many rumors about Gatsby like that he was a spy and that he once killed a man. Gatsby's past is discovered more and more as the book continues. It turns out that he is a man trying to recreate his past romance with a woman named Daisy. This book is mainly about society in the east and human behavior. It depicts the rich easterners as very stuck up and careless. The message of the book is to move on from past mistakes and move forward into the future. Gatsby tries so hard to relive the past and win Daisy from her husband Tom but in the end he does end up repeating the past because Daisy leaves him for Tom, again. This is by far the most interesting book I have ever been forced to read for an english class. It is a book that I would even read in my free time. I would highly recomend this book to anyone looking for an appropriate school book that is also easy to follow.”

The story sets out in a deep symbolic tone where the narrator is introduced and described, it foreshadows a complex tale. The runs from an over-the-shoulder perspective of what the main character, nick sees. He's recently moved to Long island, from the west. He's done this in the hope of finding that distant yet ever-present american dream. He meets a man, Gatsby. This man is portrayed as the archetype of the American dream. The man has the money, the house, and the parties. Finally, the last set of characters are the Buchanans. They also represent the American dream, however the life they're living, their American dream is filled with potholes and rips and holes. They live well and everything however their relationship with one another is so deteriorated and fake, however, this is well concealed and not for the public's eye to witness. Overall a good all-american novel, I read this book in an American Literature class.”
