How moving that Fitzgerald’s simple choice of that green light blinking in the dark distance was to become the most powerful symbol of the American Dream in our literature. It’s like Charles Foster Kane and his “Rosebud.”

Well, it’s just a perfect novel. It towers over everything else...

This is an intensely satirical and dramatic love story about the secret lives of the wealthy.

I think that The Great Gatsby was a fantastic book. The main idea of the book is about this extremely rich man named Gatsby who is in love with a lady named Daisy. Although the love never really happens the book is still good. This book had great symbols, metaphors, and so many other great hinted things. I would have to say that my favorite part of the book was the end when Gatsby is found dead in his swimming pool. I wasn't glad to see that he died but i think it made the book a whole lot more interesting and emotional. I can relate this to a movie i just saw. 2012. In the end of the movie the father goes on a suicide mission and his family is crying and very upset, but then unrealistically the father comes back to the surface and is alive. It is moments like these in movies and books when they would have more meaning if the main character died. If the main character died in 2012 then it would show how hard it is too survive and that everyone dies.

This is one of my favorites from middle school. I think that I would use this book as a read aloud, since it is a little bit advanced to have for an assigned reading book. I would only read it to a class that was 7th or 8th. I will have it on my bookshelf for an independent reading interest book as well.

This is another one of my favorite books. I would connect this book to a history lesson about what was going on in the 1920’s in America in the decline of the jazz age. Also could talk about themes in the book relating to the decline of America, what upper class and lower class meant and was experiencing, symbols such as the green light and the valley of ashes. Could also discuss student’s dreams for the future and how they will achieve them.
