How moving that Fitzgerald’s simple choice of that green light blinking in the dark distance was to become the most powerful symbol of the American Dream in our literature. It’s like Charles Foster Kane and his “Rosebud.”

Well, it’s just a perfect novel. It towers over everything else...

After a rather slow start dramatically, Fitzgerald brings purpose into our characters with his masterful wit and narrative talent.

It's possible to be in love with a book. I brought this book with me on a trip this summer, so as to fill in travel time, but I couldn't put it down! While it's a very entertaining book, with it's humour and authentic Jazz Age feel, it also has a meaningful depth to it. Jay Gatsby says "Can't repeat the past?... Why of course you can!" -- I wish that were true so I could read The Great Gatsby for the first time again!

I never had to read this in high school, and since a lot of my students are reading it so I figured I would finally check it out.

Had to read it for English and it surprisingly wasn't a book that my teacher had to force me to read. It was genuinely good!
