“Such a helpful book!”

This is on CJ Mahaney's, (founder of Soveriegn Grace Ministries), top 10 must read christian books. For his other recommendations see http://girltalk.blogs.com/girltalk/reading/

“This is the book I most frequently reccomend. And that's saying something. Tripp does an amazing job getting at the realities of "minsitry" Not vocational minsitry, not professional ministry, not "called-to" ministry, But personal ministry - the ministry that you and I have with you and I every day. I was encouraged, challenged, convicted, saddened, equipped and moved the first time I read it. This is one of the few books I actually keep on my desk constantly. Every single time I pick it up I am challenged and encouraged. One of the only non-fiction books I've read more than once. You need to read this, you really do.”

Excellent stuff. I would highly recommend (along with the book "Seeing With New Eyes" by David Powlison) for a new perspective on counseling, especially if you have only been aquainted with the "Integration model" of Christian Counseling. Paul Tripp, David Powlison, Ed Welch, Tedd Tripp, Leslie Vernick (= Authors whose books I have up on this site) all write from a "Biblical Counseling" Model, which I find to be more theologically grounded and gospel centered.”
