Accidentally downloaded this book in place of Marker, by the same author, planning to continue the Stapleton/Montgomery series. Kept waiting for them to appear in the book.... In the end, less interesting than the other series' books simply because it seemed much more "out there" in terms of reality. Still well written, but a bit too science fiction-y (not that I don't like sci-fi, just wasn't expecting it).

If you love medical thrillers with a twist of science and a hint of horror, you'll enjoy Mutation by Robin Cook. When Dr. Victor Frank created his second son VJ by surrogate, he added an extra element to the implantation: an animal gene to make him smarter and brighter. But things not cracked up to be for his ten-year-old son. He might be bright, but he's also anti-social and a bit violent. Things started up by him poisoning other people and developing his own mad science for biotechnology. When things escalate, it's up to Victor to save his wife and maye himself with a drastic end--it has a shocking surprise ending.

This book is the only reason why I got a "B" in biology in high school. Reading the book was extra credit in class and it introduced me to my only favorite author. Mutation enjoys the measures parents take to bring back a child that was lost to death. Perfect book to show that science CAN go too far, but in fiction it makes a great story.

Technology comes in the right place, at the right time. The human race is not ready for mutated humans with very high IQ levels. At first, it is wonderful, but later, you'll find out how scary it is.
