My very first "Forsyth" and what made me read his other novels. Still tops on my list — better than Odessa File and Day of the Jackal. Compelling narrative, interesting characters. Before mercenaries became fashionable in Hollywood movies, there was this novel. "Cry, 'Havoc!' and let slip the dogs of war."

It's an below okay book about a mercenary. It starts when a big company finds a mountain with allot of platinum in a africa country. That country is run by a crazy and corrupt general. Ths company hires the mercenary to kill him and take over the country with a puppet government. The middle is to full of have every thing costs and how he gets the supplies and stuff, it's boring. The end is strange.
