“I first read this one is a Readers Digest condensed form in 1961; I must have been ten years old. Later in high school I read my mother's full length copy, and later still I taught it to freshmen in high school. As many times as I've read this book, its power and charm have never faded. The interesting thing for me is that despite the number of times I have revisited Scout, Jem and Atticus, I always manage to find something different to notice or admire. Certainly when I was younger the children's story captured my attention most, but the last few years it was Atticus and the adults who seemed to be at the heart of this novel. This one is an all time favorite.”
