As much a work of art as a fantastic book that will probably appeal to literature fans as well as genre fiction readers. Also probably the most polished first novel I have ever seen. Highly recommended.

Unusual but beautifully written creating a believable alternate universe. Images and characters linger with you long after finishing the book.

This is a book written for middle child by a middle of middle chillren.

Once I read the first chapter, I just felt an odd familiarity swirling between lines. Then, for the first time, I checked anthor's bibliography before finishing the book. Turned out to be Donohue's a middle child like me. Further, he's actually the middle among seven children. No wonder we can find connection via the text. We all know how it feels to belong to no specific somewhere.

Excellent book. Everyone should read this. It's well written and more unique than most books.

I have read this but I remember very little about it, so I must not have liked it very much.

This is the story of two boys, the one who was stolen and the one who replaced him.

I'm not sure what to say about this book. I had heard great things about it but this just failed to deliver for me. I enjoyed it but had to push myself to finish it – although the ending was considerably better for me then the start. I was bored through most of the first half of the book. I didn't really like any character until the story progressed more. Because of the ending, this book gets three stars, but if the story had continued in the same format as the end, I would have given it two.

Don't bother reading this. There's better books around.
