“This is a really impressive debut. I just finished the first half and can't wait to read the rest.”
“A haunting, almost chilling account involving the changeling myth. Highly imaginative, and utterly absorbing. At times, I wished I could live wild and free like the faeries; at other times, I pitied them and the lives they were forced to lead, as well as the lives of the changelings. Couldn't put it down.”
“A very fun book beautifully interwoven with bits and pieces of changeling folklore. It offers an interesting and humorous take on the changeling myth. The author shifts between the lives of the two main characters, which live separately, yet side by side throughout the story. This is part of its suspense. It is the kind of book that cannot be put down for tomorrow. It is definitely a good and worthy read, but I suggest the reader brush up a little on changeling and faerielore before reading it. It makes it more entertaining. I do hope they make this one into a movie and bring it to life! I think it would prove especially entertaining on the big screen.”
“I enjoyed this book immensely. I think the story is a great creative work and it held me facinated throughout the book. Donohue is a wonderful writer and his depiction of the changeling/hobgoblin children was interesting if not creepy. At the same time he humanized them and gave them each an identity. I like the alternating chapters told from differing points of view.Great story!”
“I enjoyed this book. It had a compelling plot that made you want to keep reading. ”
“ Great debut novel! Wow what a story, can't wait for his next one”
“A modern twist and Americanization of the changeling legend. Raises some interesting psychological and philosophical questions. The characters themselves, however, are a bit dry and the meat of the story is long in coming. Patience pays off, however. ”
“Very good read.”
