“I am the biggest fan of Harry Potter! I love it so much! It is just fantastic how J. K. Rowling has woven her ideas and imagination and creativity into making a beautiful story.”
“I really do not want to read Chapter 27!”
“just finished the book :D:D .. I'm In love with it :D can't wait till I see harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2 .. ”
“I think alot of the controversy stems from the fact that people don't really understand what witchcraft is. There is a negative connotation related to the words witchcraft and pagan when, in fact, any practicing Wiccan can tell you that there is no anti-Christian message in Wicca. It's about being in tune with the earth and others around us and basically following the golden rule of treating others as you'd want to be treated. Although the students in the book get Christmas as a holiday, I don't think that it really has anything to do with religion. It's probably just like in any other culture where kids get the major holidays off whether they are Christian or not. And since there is no mention of religion, Christian or otherwise, in the book and the spells that are cast are not done in a religious sense, there is no reason to view the books as anti-Christian.”
“J.K. Rowling is from a Christian culture so it makes sense that in her book the characters get off for Christian holidays.”
“What about the fact that the students at Hogwarts get vacations for Christian holidays such as Christmas and Easter?”
“i luv hp books and there is nothing to do with religion in it..”
“Well from my perspective in the harry potter series, there is just no mention of religion. It could be interpreted as all these people do not follow any religion. In that case, is it then anti-christian not to have a religion ?”
“a lot of people were very upset by the Harry Potter books, especially when they first came out and were becoming very popular because they had to do with witchcraft. There has been a long history of a sort of Church vs witchcraft battle, the Salem witch trials are one famous example. The Church was very against witchcraft several centuries ago because it had to do with paganism. Later, witchcraft became associated with the devil; it was believed that from him witches got their power. However, I do not believe that Harry Potter is not really anti-Christian as it does not mention nor incorporates pagan beliefs nor any sort of devil-worshipping. That is the controversy; whether or not Harry Potter is anti-Christian because it has so much to do with witchcraft.”
“Hey, I'm wondering if some of you can help me out. I have a 4,000 word essay I have to write and I've decided to write about Harry Potter. Some of you may be aware of the Harry Potter controversy. Some people consider the books anti-Christian and are very opposed to them. My own mom almost didn't let me read them. What do you think about this controversy?”
