- Edward Elric: The main character, short and touchy about it. He is the Fullmetal Alchemist and is the youngest alchemist at 15
- Alphonse Elric: He is Edward's younger brother who got his soul bound to a suit of armor. He is sometimes called the fullmetal alchemist because he is "all metal" and he is sometimes called the older brother because he is taller then Ed.
- Roy Mustang: The Flame Alchemist. He is about 28 and is a womenizer.
- Major Alex Louis Armstrong: He is the Strong Arm Alchemist, very musculer, but a bit childish.
