The Watson family consists of the Dad- Daniel Watson, the Mom- Wilona Watson, the oldest son- Byron, the middle son- Kenny, and lastly their daughter- Joetta. In the beginning, the author shows us Kenny is always learning 'lessons' from his brother, Byron. It ranges from learning how to survive in a blizzard to explaining to him that 'Wool Pooh' isn't real. Joetta, is the youngest and is only in kindergarten, and is along for the ride. She watches as everything unfolds, and isn't afraid to share what she's feeling. Their parents are very strict and send trouble maker Byron off to live with Grandma Sands, in Birmingham for the summer. Once they arrive Byron cleans up his act, and is now good. But when Kenny, assumes Byron's old 'bad boy' image, things turn for the worst in the Watson family. When Kenny is told not to swim in dangerous ponds, and gets sucked into a Whirlpool and Byron has to save him. Then a bomb is dropped in the church that Joetta is attending Sunday School in, and no one knows what going to happen. The end
