Thanks for joining the Best English-Language Fiction of the Twentieth Century – the name rolls right off the tongue doesn’t it… Hopefully the posts will start pouring in as we get over the ‘new group’ hump and out of the busy holiday season. Again, glad you joined up and I look forward to picking at the threads with you. Please consider inviting your friends to join us as well. See you around the shelves.Pawbones
No problemAnd thanks about the pic :)
Welcome to the group based on the book 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. There is a general explanation of the group under guidelines. The book(s) of the month (BOTM) that the group is reading are pinned to the top. I hope you will be able to enjoy the group and perhaps join in one or more of the monthly reads. We pick our next books for February about mid January. We are currently reading Lady Chatterley's Lover by DH Lawrence and The Spy Who Came in From the Cold by John Le Carre.
Thank you for the friend request. I just read your profile....mine could say almost the exact same thing! As for Wolf Hall, I think it is excellent. I'm only about 1/4 of the way through, but I don't anticipate my impressions of it to change. How are you enjoying The Blind Assassin? I read it several years ago, and thought it was quite good.
no doubt ;) one of the best pastimes
ugh, i keep adding more and more books to my "plan to read list"! yet, it's been a couple months since i've been able to finish any. lol :p
Groovy New Shelves!?!?
Hi:I thought you might be interested in a contest. It’s wacky, creative and ‘killer’ fun. ‘Create a Corpse’ Contest lets you name a character in my suspense novel Divine Justice. Of course, you guessed it—the character dies For contest details, just scroll over the following URL, copy and paste into your browser. This is a great contest for avid readers who’d like to be part of the process. I look forward to receiving your entries. :)http://www.cherylktardif.com/contests/~Cheryl Kaye Tardif, bestselling author
This is soooo much fun!!! I'm so glad you invited me to this!!! Boy do I really need your (along with the family's) help to bring me into the 21st century!!! I learn so many things everyday from you guys!!!
I'm finally finishing Kushiel's Scion! Not as good as the first 3 books but I just love the world she's created, so I'm happy enough with it. I'd recommend it as long as you don't go into it with super high expectations....
Sending you some love!
Hey Sis!!! Thanks for inviting me - I am having tons of fun with this!
Thanks for the note! Sorry it took so long for me to request you for my friends list. For some reason the message didn't come through until yesterday even though it was dated the 19th or something like that.
Loved the Kushiel series--haven't read the new one yet, but it's on my TBR list! The plots are so lush and complex--very interesting mix of political thriller/intrigue/fantasy/alternate history/erotica. Haven't found another book quite like those!
Of course :)I haven't read anything by Peirce for a while, but I really did like them. The tom boy aspect definitely seemed appealing to me :P
