I'm a science professor at a local college. I love my kindle and read whenever I'm not working. I like to read a lot of books at once so that I don't get tired of any one story. I usually go through about ten books a month and equally enjoy SF, mystery, and historical fiction. I'd really like to follow some people who are big readers also,... more »

Welcome. I joined ages ago and then forgot about the site until tonight.

My likes on historical fiction are limited to 20th century and Spain and the Far East

But we have Lee Child and Reacher in common and also Bernard Cornwell but for him again the 20th Century especially the Sharpe series - heightened by the fact that one of my ancestors fought in one of his battle scenes - in Spain against Napoleon - and was shot in the shoulder. As we live in Spain we went and found the site of the battle near Cadiz. Unfortunately there is no real recognition of the site as the Spanish were supposed to be fighting with the Brits against the French but had the day off and left the Brits to beat Napoleon's troops by themselves. That's when we used to beat people by ourselves!

    Hello,

We start with a shiny new pot of boiling water and add too many evil vampires, and not enough of the good biters. Toss in one suicidal Dracula; add a cup of mayhem and a dash of romance. Oh yes, and a pinch of mirth. Stir lovingly and you have a novel by A. J. Gallant. If it sounds like the recipe for you then you must read Dracula: Hearts of Stone.

Unrealistic or not my writing gives me hope. But with something like 50 000 books published a month it is a little discouraging. I didn’t think there were that many writers out there.
