I love books! I love to read! Well, duh! I buy way more than I can possible read--unless my plan to live forever comes about! My husband and I recently completed a 7 month cross-country trip in an RV that was just marvelous. I visited many, many wonderful book stores where I bought many, many books. Oh yes, and we saw some totally awesome... more »

Loved this book, even more than the first in the series. Loved how the author kept all her plates in the air and made all the stories and characters easy to follow. And even better, cleared everything up in the end with no strings dangling.

I expected this to be a little better than it was. I never got the sense that Kate understood just how serious her drinking problem was.

I did enjoy it, but just like the last book I read of hers, it wen on just that litle bit too long. At several points I wished to smacked Ellie and scream "grow up". But altogether a good story, well done.

This is only the second historical I've read of Ms. Heyer's and I wonder how I missed out on them. I loved this and was just enchanted with the story.

What could have had a tragic ending, Andy Borowitz tells with great good humor. Very enjoyable.

Once again, a delightful cozy. And I never guessed the bad guy, not even close.

I though this was one of the better mysteries in the series. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

What a charming story. I thoroughly enjoyed every page. This is my firs Georgette Heyer historical novel, but not my last! I don't know what took me so long.

  • The Very Picture of You: A Novel
    • Rated 5 stars

I had so enjoyed A Vintage Affair; I was quite pleased to read The Very Picture of You by the same author. And I was not disappointed.

I found the descriptions about portraiture simply fascinating. I’ve never read anything about painting someone’s portrait and I think the author did a great job. The back stories about the people getting their portrait done were so interesting. If I had a complaint (which I really don’t), I wish there could have been more.

The characters were fully developed and quite believable. The setting in modern day London was fascinating too as that’s some place I’ve always wanted to visit. I saw the romance coming a mile away—for some that would be a turnoff, but not for me. I enjoyed the journey immensely.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story.
