I love books! I love to read! Well, duh! I buy way more than I can possible read--unless my plan to live forever comes about! My husband and I have just completed a 7 month cross-country trip in an RV that was just marvelous. I visited many, many wonderful book stores where I bought many, many books. Oh yes, and we saw some totally awesome...more »

Hey Becca! Are you feeling better? I hope so. We got our flu shots this week, too, but luckily no complications for us. I hope you're resting & taking good care of yourself.

I'm glad Brendan called. That must cheered your heart!! No, you were right to not speak of Joe to him, but you know how I feel. It does need to wait until you're w/ everyone. But how will you do this if you don't go home for the holidays? And could you stand to not see your wonderful family more than it would bother you to see them in your house? Oh Becca, my heart feels so sad for you!! I wish I could think of something wise to say or do to help.

I'll get you my recipe for Shepherd's Pie soon. Of course, your kitchen will probably be torn up by then! LOL I'm as excited as you are about your kitchen!! I can't wait to see the pictures.

Well, I need to go fix dinner. Sending you lots of hugs & get well wishes!!!

Just saw that you've never had Shepherd's Pie either, Becca!! Do you want my recipe? Easy, easy, easy...

I've nevver had the Malt O whatever either.

As for your lack of s'mores, I swear I have seen more things in the grocery store lately saying they taste just like s'mores! LOL Concidence? I think not!! I think I'm being prodded to buy you some & send you a s'more care package.

Oh yuck!! I'm so sorry it's nasty humid there! It's rainy & humid here. I wish it could get cold again & then stay cold!

Sorry that lil ole black raincloud is hanging over your head!!

Let's break open the BPBs & have a party!!

LOL at the thought of Clark thinking I'd take better care of him than you!! Did you see what I left you in the BF2 room?! *snort* He'd be begging you to come back if you left me alone w/ him for an afternoon!! Durn right that together we'd unpack all of the boxes!! What time can you pick me up? =D

I'm glad he's feeling better today & hope he improves w/ leaps & bounds. Poor guy...But he needs to get better fast so that he can resume building your bookshelves again! See, no sympathy...well, not much anyway.

Thanks loads for the book, Bright Lights, Big A*s!! And for the bookmark!! Oh, gosh, Becca, you are so sweet. I've been in a reading slump & I may just pick that up instead. Nothing so far is catching my interest. Hubby doesn't understand how I can have 2 complete rows of TBR books & how none of them appeal to me right now. Maybe I'll go clean out a closet!

Give Clark a hug from me!!

OMG, Becca!!! Poor Clark!! Tell him I'm on my way in Leona w/ some of my famous home-made chicken soup, DVDs of the History channel (for his former Social Studies days), a new, comfy pillow & a fluffy afghan. Bless his heart, tell him next time he doesn't have to resort to practically taking off his hand instead of building your bookshelves. He could just hire a pool boy to build the rest of the bookshelves. =D

Give him a big hug from me.

Hey Becca!!! How are you? Did Jenn & I wake you up the other night? How come no one's in the BF room?

And most importantly: have you been good while I was gone? =)

Big hugs back!!! Try to be good!!!

If I must tell TRJK "hey", then I suppose I must! He is excited to meet Alicia, but he told me that he wished that you and Clark were going to be there too!

So, when do we get the photos of the new furniture?

    How's my sweet brother?
How are you and the neighbors?

    Kisses!

Hey Becca! How are your wrists today? Are they feeling better? You tell Clark from me that if he puts you on hammering detail again, he will have me to deal w/!! My goodness, what was he thinking? I don't have any strength in my wrists either. I recently bought 4 exercise DVDs & one deals w/ strength training. The fitness instructor has an exercise for developing wrist strength. Of course, it involves much pain afterwards since mine are so woefully weak. Perhaps if you & I practiced throwing iron skillets at our husbands, our wrists' strength would improve?! Maybe we could get some other BFer to bail us out!! ;)

Oh, poor kitties, to not be allowed on the lanai! I say let them out & lizards: Beware!! LOL Yeah, I know eating lizards is probably not good for them, but they enjoy the hunt so much!!! Did I ever tell you how hubby plays a game w/ Luke called Stick Lizard? You know Luke HATES lizards w/ a passion because they used to come into our island home & steal his food. Hubby will grab a long tree branch & move it on the ground, all the time telling Lukie to come get the lizard. The he moves the stick all over, in quick, jerky motions, & Luke follows, trying to grab it. Luke will start growling & yipping in a very high-pitched voice, & you can hear his lil teeth snapping when he misses the branch. It wears Luke out! Of course, sometimes Luke is faster & he snaps the branch & "kills" the lizard. Of course, Luke does enjoy chasing the real things also, & he loves to bask in the sun, while guarding the porches from the reptiles.

Gosh, so sorry the weather down there is still so hot & humid! I wonder how much longer it lasts? It must end soon because I think the snow birds (retired Yankees)start traveling down there now. Have your neighbors come back yet?

We leave tomorrow for DC!! I'm so excited! I know the Vietnam Memorial will be moving for hubby. I'm glad I will be there for him. I can't wait to meet Jenn & Jason!! Don't be jealous - after all, she got to hug you first rather than me. (Which I am still jealous of, BTW. ;p)

Sooo glad your gardener is still alive!

    How are you, my dear?

I vote for you to unpack your books, Becca!!! I couldn't stand to be w/o my books!!! That's one of the reasons I was so depressed when I lived on the island - NO BOOKS!! Run to Target or Walmart & buy a cheap bookcase that you could use in a closet later, & unpack a box or 2. I know it won't hold much, but at least it would get rid of some of the boxes & you'd have some books out.

Well, what happened w/ the gardener? Did he cut away the bathroom bushes? I'm afraid w/ your mood lately, if he did, he's walking around w/o a head!! LOL I hope those alien pods from the magnolia tree aren't stealthily crawling up your driveway!! Be careful - they're coming for you & the kitties!! Or maybe they're on a mission to get Clark!!

We are going to Gary's army cavalry reunion next week (Thurs.) in VA. Guess what?! Jenn & I are making plans to have dinner!!! I am so excited, I just don't know what to do. I'm also going to make sure Gary sees the Vietnam Memorial. He did 2 tours & has never seen it. I know it will be emotional for him, & I want to be there w/ him when he sees it.

Oh bad, bad, Becca, for reading more than 1 book at a time!!! Here, let me slap your hand! LOL I'm reading a fantasy series by Robin Hobb called Assassin. Right now I'm on the 3rd & last book. They're very cool; lots of adventure, betrayal, fantasy elements, etc. This one has the main character bonded to a wolf - I would love that, although the canine terrorists would probably insist I'm already bonded to them. I would have to say, no, I'm your slave. That's different!

    Have a great weekend!!!

One last question, how did you manage to get 3,070 books on your shelf. Do you own a lot of them?

Thand you for recommending Dear Neighbor, Drop Dead. I just picked it up at the bookstore and it is my pile of books to read next. I will let you know when I read it. I was also wondering what you thought of Trauma Center, Goodbye Jimmy Choo, and Seeing Me Naked. I noticed htem on your shlef. I hope that you are getting settled in from moving. Believe me I know how stressful that can be. We just moved too and we still have rooms full of boxes because I have been having a lot of medical problems. It seems like I am never going to get everything unpacked!

I have been over helping my Mom plow and plant her late fall garden. Due to various events, she did not get it started at the end of August. However, she wanted to do it anyway so we did. We planted potatoes, cabbage, swiss chard, and spinach.
I do hope it grows and does well.

KoKo and my Mom's Dog, Lucky, were very helpful. They helped dig and came often to be petted. My Mom's Cat was there too. Her name is butterscotch. Guess what color she is. She chased after the weeds that I pulled up.

Hope all is well with you and that you are finding things ok.

Good morning, Becca! Got this PN & answered it. Gosh, you are dealing w/ a lot. I wish there was some way to help...Just know that I'm here & will listen. If nothing else, I'll break out the BPBs for both of us.

I am still smiling, but it's more of a grimace. I tried a new exercise tape yesterday. I thought I was in pretty good shape - WRONG!! Gary woke me up last night, said I was groaning in my sleep & suggested I take an ibuprofen to ease the pain. I did, but I'm really feeling the new exercises today. Oh dear God, whatever possessed me to jump around & pretend I could do this stuff???

I'm adding some adult beverages to my morning coffee to help me cope. =)

Hey Becca!!! I'm really good!! Still walking around w/ a smile on my face, still relaxed after our weekend away.

I did read about your one bookcase & was going to post about it today. It goes w/o saying that I cannot believe it!! Well, yes, I can!! I've said it before, but you have more patience than I do. I would have smacked Clark upside the head already; or bought VERY expensive bookshelves & when they were delivered given each of the delivery people a BIG tip in front of Clark. (Gary says I'm vindictive! LOL)

Oh holey-moley, Becca, you could wait until May, 2009, to mail me the book & I would still have stuff to read!! I got Aimee's discarded books last week; 2 orders from book catalogs within the past month; the trip to the used bookstore this weekend yielded a bag full of goodies; Rob, another shelfari friend is sending me some books this week also. So...I think I have plenty to read. No, I KNOW I have plenty to read. I have so much just waiting, it's embarrassing. But...to me, all of those wonderful books just sitting on my bookshelf, waiting, are worth more than a fortune. *sigh*

Oh, the weather here is perfect!!! Has it gotten cooler down there? Can you sit on the lanai in comfort?

Sending you hugs & a 1-way plane ticket up here....
