I have sometimes dreamt, at least, that when the Day of Judgement dawns and the great conquerors and lawyers and statesmen come to receive their rewards--their crowns, their laurels, their names carved indelibly upon imperishable marble--the Almighty will turn to Peter and will say, not without a certain envy when He sees us coming with our books under our arms, "Look, these need no reward. We have nothing to give them here. They have loved reading."

I love to read! And I own lots of books...too, too many. My house is full of unshelved books. I always promise myself I will get them better organized, but I never do! I enjoy many different kinds of books but lately, over the past few years, I have been reading books (both fiction and non-fiction) by authors writing in the era of WWI and WWII...the so-called "Lost Generation" of writers like Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Dos Passos, etc. I also love and have a large collection of works by Caribbean authors or about the Caribbean.
