“This had everything, from love, mystery, plague, tension, witch hunts, God, religion, redemption........just one good, intriguing novel. Sad to turn the last page and keep hoping she might write a sequel about Anna and the childrens' lives as they start over, as well as those still in the community such as the Bradfords, Micheal, and Merry.
At times it was hard to read some of the story, but I may be a bit more sensitive right now than normally as I am pregnant, so some of the gore and the horrible birth scene of Anna's mother was hard to read for me.
There is much death and illness, but also birth and blessings as well. The ending left me really surprised, shaking my head in dismay.
I definitely recommend this read. ”
