Thanks for recommending "Sworn To Silence" by Linda Castillo, I read it and thought it was very good. I'm now reading a proof copy of the second in the series "Pray For Silence."

Yes, I too am finding entrancing. I'm not a really rapid reader - up to Chapter 15, but constantly reading sentences which make me smile.
eg "Life does often get in the way of one's reading," agreed the Major. Ain't that the truth!!

Abdul Wahid remarks "But I must ask you, do you really understand what it means to be in love with an unsuitable woman?"
"My dear boy," said the Major. "Is there really any other kind?"
