I have worked in various types of book stores for the past 10 years ranging from new independent bookstores to used bookstores as well as a book distributor. If you haven't guessed my favorite past time is books! Despite the fact I currently work in a bookstore, on my days off I can often be found browsing the shelves at the library! Please... more »

  • The Forty Rules of Love: A Novel of Rumi
    • Rated 5 stars

This is one of the most beautiful and captivating novels that I have read in a long time. I took my time reading this book because the language and descriptions were so poetic. I did not know allot about Rumi or Sufis and enjoyed learning about them. I was constantly copying down passages so I can go back and reread them. Its not often that I will reread a book or rate a book with five stars but this one is worth it!

I am a fan of Jonathan Tropper's previous books but this one I found absolutely horrible and crass. The main character Judd is not developed enough and the reader really only sees one side of him which is basically all about sex. His other family members I found more enjoyable and if he had explored those relationships more I think it would have been a much more satisfying read. Don't bother with this one, its not worth your time.

I LOVED this book! I woke up at 5am and couldn't put the book down until I had finished it. It had elements of Catcher in the Rye and To Kill a Mockingbird in it.

This book is epic in scope. I have not read Wally Lamb before so I cannot compare it to his previous books. The writing is amazing, he has a special gift for character development and exploring different elements in their defects. Be prepared for a dark and tumultous journey when you pick up this book and plan to spend atleast a month with it. It is one of those books though that you will keeping talking about and thinking about for days to come.

Another in the Jackson Brodie series. I loved it! I liked Case Histories, but this one is even better!

This book was not as good as some of her earlier books which I really enjoyed, like Alphabet Sisters. If you are looking for a light, brainless story filled with a little romance this book is perfect for that kind of mood. Otherwise, don't bother with this one.

Lesley Kagen has the gift of creating characters that are so quirky and charming you can't wait to see what will happen next! Gibby McGraw has been brain damaged from car accident, but that doesn't stop her from trying to solve a murder case. With her blue spiral notebook and her trusty dog Keeper she sets out to solve the murder and hopes to become "Quite Right" again. A heart warming story you won't want to miss!

Here is a poignant and heartfelt story about the Turner family in post war Britian, whoose lives are inexplicably changed by the death of Lily Turner. The language is so captivating, you feel as if you are inside the characters heads and hearts. From the first sentence I was completly hooked!

  • Steinbeck's Ghost
    • Rated 5 stars

This is a wonderful children's story about a boy who loves the library. When it is about to close, with the help of the librarian they are determined to save it. Along the way he encounters numerous ghosts all coming from Steinbeck's novels! Creative and enjoyable! Aimed at 6th or 7th graders but just as enjoyable at any age!

  • Dewey
    • Rated 4 stars

I finished this book in one day! It's not the type of book I generally read, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is such a heartwarming story of this whole town that comes together when a cat is abandoned in the drop slot of a library. Dewey is charming and delightful!
