The Round House by Louise Erdrich has been chosen as the Good Reads selection for June. The discussion should be posted shortly after the first week of the month. We are currently discussing The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. We hope you can join us!

Hi! I have another cover question for you. I just finished reading Hatchet. I'm sure the blue on the cover is meant to be mountains (as the green is meant to be forest), but it's not super-clear. Can that count as mountains on the cover for the scavenger hunt, or no? Thanks!

Hi, another book cover to confirm with you. :-)

This one shows three women in part of a boat. If I'm remembering correctly, more than one person counts as a variation for 3 points (which is fine, because I hadn't thought I'd get this one, anyway!), but it's only part of the boat that you see. Is that ok?

Exactly what I was thinking when I wrote "LOL" --- but then I edited it to ask about the movie instead, because I didn't want to make anyone mad by laughing about what I find kind of ridiculous, myself.

Hi Book Concierge, Thanks for the message invite to introduce myself to Southern Lit types. A romp thru Savannah and around the South is encountered in the first novel I wrote after suffering numerous rejections from literary agents--yes, it's different but hopefully humorous (Slush Pile Inspector) Amazon. After having so much fun writing a novel, I wrote another with a character working in Key West (Atlantic City Nazi). Then, I wrote (Tango Boat Dancers), and finally a memoir that I should have started with because several "true" experiences are incorporated into my novels based on the YA memoir (purpose to make kids do homework.)

HI Book Concierge! I have been quite absent from shelfari but trying to make an effort these days. Have you taken the plunge and bought an e reader yet? You can download those free apps for pc from amazon, Barnes and Noble etc. It's great way to take advantage of those free books they offer quite often. Well just reaching out to say hello! oh glad to see you on goodreads as well.

Thanks for the message and invite. I will check in with the group sometime, and certainly will take a look at your posted books. Just joined, so I'm spending time posting reviews and learning my way around Shelfari. I think their site needs some work to make it more logical and user-friendly.

Ok, I'm going to try another recommendation for you. I see you've read Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie Macdonald. I'd like to recommend a different book by her - I liked this one better: The Way the Crow Flies. It's been a while since I read it, so I can't comment on specifics, but here is a link to my review:

Yeah, it really feels like any of us who try to explain how things work over here are ignored, anyway. Sigh.

I'm not really in any other groups over there besides the shelfari group and a Canada group (with NO activity at all!). I joined the one to pipe in with a comment about shelfari, and that seems to be the one where everyone is griping!

I did read that about the librarians, and I totally understand that, as well.

Oops, sorry! Maybe tonight, I'll try again... :-)

Yeah, my GR shelf is so far behind my shelfari shelf. I've kept it up to date since I started with "current" stuff, but since the import didn't really work (less than 100 out of 1000 books actually imported), all I've managed to add over there are the tbr books. I've not gone back to add in the others. When I (finally!) do, I'd like to also add in all my tags and reviews, as well.

Although, I will admit that the attitudes of the people over there have put me off GR a bit.I am giving LibraryThing a try, so before I go too far with adding retroactive stuff to GR, I hope to do an import at LT and see if that works better. If it does, and I decide I like the interface, I might just reside here and at LT instead of here and GR. We'll see...

Hi! I'm here for Meet, Greet and Be Sweet at Booktivity. :-) I checked our books in common and I didn't see A Thousand Splendid Suns there - have you read it? I saw that The Kite Runner is one of your favourites. I thought it was really good, but I actually liked Suns better, I think because it was a woman's experience. I know a lot of people still preferred Kite Runner, but some, like me, preferred Suns. Anyway, that's my recommendation for you, if you haven't tried it yet. :-)
