Small-town life now appeals to this 40-something library lady. Grew up in a small town, went to the big city, moved south after becoming disillusioned by said big city and by years of midwestern winters. Married to a wonderful man, himself a voracious reader, for over 8 years.

In a nutshell, love my job,... more »

Hey Traci- Unfortunately I have to report that I really disliked Conroy's new book "South of Broad"- I thought that it was overly depressing- bad thing after bad thing happened in the book and I didn't feel good by the time it was over. I have been a fan of his previous books, but this one only earned two stars from me....Jason

    Hi,
Just checked out your shelf and I noticed you did not have Jeanine Frost on it. Her second book gets into Zombies but she makes him kind of hot...I know Eeww! But she did. There are 3 books in the series and the next one is coming out at the end of the month or next month I think. I enjoyed her books. How did you like Acevedo? I have not read anything by him but your review had me interested. I think I will check him out too.

It will probably be a while before I get to "Good Omens"- I have a number of books ahead of it on my reading calendar. I am now reading "Stardust" also by Neil Gaiman, and after that plan to read "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Authur Golden and "My Name is Red" by Orhan Pamuk. Additionally, thanks for being a good correspondent- I am always amazed at how many people won't write back if you send them a message...Jason

If you remember, though, there were several references in the book at how light Bella's skin was...

I saw "Twilight" over the weekend. I liked it pretty well, but not as good as the book. I forgot to ask you if you have seen yet (maybe you told me and i've forgotten)? I hear that they are gearing up for "New Moon" already...

just finished watching 5 episodes of True Blood. Sookie Stackhouse looks exactly like I imagined her too be, Sam Merlotte is more handsome and Eric and bill are really good looking too. Jason is really cute.

Hey-thanks for the compliment on the pic! I thought both Bella and Edward were likable protagonists and that Bella's emotions were portrayed accurately as those belonging to a 17 year old. She was very caught up in how tragically romantic things can be at that age. I thought Edward actually showed a lot of self restraint. For the readers it would have been nice if they could have had one truly passionate kiss- but hey- I guess this is YA. I saw his actions of watching her sleep more tender than stalkerish. His love for her on one level was selfish though, as he should have never initiated things with a human girl. A question I have since Edward is trapped in a 17 year old body is he supposed to be 17 emotionally or 90 like he really is--ie is it appropriate that he be attracted to a young girl instead of an older woman? Anyway, I really liked the book and intend to read the entire series...hope you are doing well. Jason

Thanks for the friend add! I took a minute to read some of your reviews and thoroughly enjoyed myself - I'll have to come back to read more when I have more time! I'm sure it will cause an addition (or 2 or 3 or more) to my already massive to-be-read stack!

Reviewed your shelves and find some interesting choices there! I've always wanted to ask someone who has read some of the Dexter books if they are the same episodes as the TV series. I'm a great fan of the series and looking forward to it returning soon!

I also liked Perfume! Great story!

Also, I really must get the D. Sadaris book you read. I heard it was hilarious!

Where is Dallas in N.C.? I have a niece who lives in Denner or Denver -- can't remember which right now.....
