Let me know how you like Alias Grace. I LOVED it! Ending was a bit of a letdown, but the whole book in itself was one big juicy apple! :-)

Ah, I see you've just finished the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and rated it 4 stars (If I were to guess, last minute airport bookstore purchase on your recent trip?!! hehe....). Anyways, that's good to know - I've been following the popularity of this book here in Europe and finally, got a used copy a month ago. I really want to pick it up once my south american list is done - 3 more to go there......:-)

Megele Moga Dukkra Peel, howdy? :-)
I just finished reading 'Ali and Nino'. Although I wouldn't consider it a love story, I loved the story. I also read Arvind Adiga's 'The White Tiger'. It was a good read too. He has got everything about India right. But I was amazed that he managed to get an award for it.
For now I am done reading fictions... I need a good doze of non fiction books. Not decided on any one in particular... I am exploring topics like body language, zen and even urdu poetry/ghazals. Let me know if something pops up in your mind.
    Have a nice day.

"Ali and Nino" is simply wonderful....I just read it this week in Madeira. Saw that it's on your list. Not sure if it's still on your pending list, and if it is, you can have my copy in Nov. One less book to bring with you for reading material (and one less on my bookshelf! hehe :-))

I loved "The Bastard of Istanbul". How do you like it? It's light reading....but I like the theme of food all over the book. :-))

Hi, Kassi asa tu? I really liked the book 'The Lizard Cage'. I did find certain chapters/pages a little boring... but when I finally got through reading the book it all made sense. You can compare this book to an art movie, if you don't like the art movies, then this may not be a good pick. Personally, I think it is a good read and recommend it.

I haven't read In Defense of Food yet, I am trying to hold out for the paperback edition (there is a waiting list a mile long for it at the library) but I don't know if I'll make it or not...I keep hearing great things about it!

Another recommendation based on our love of science: Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver; a novel with lots of fun science facts in it.

Sujatha -- sorry I didn't answer back in in November, I must not have checked in for a long time, since it's already February! I am reading Wizard of the Crow right now (how coincidental!) and I'm enjoying it alot. I have to follow the story line closely and then my mind wants to stop and synthesize the story and look for hidden meanings... it's really good. What are you reading now?

Hi! I'm just back from vacation. I looked at Upton Teas' website. My God what a lot of choices!! How do you decide??!! While on vacation we toured a tea plantation--the only one in the U.S. (Charleston, SC) Bought some tea (3 boxes!)--it's pretty good. Your book about the Chinese women sounds really interesting. Can you tell me a bit about it when you have time? Just a wee bitty bit? I just finished another book by Molly Keane--Devoted Ladies. I am so hooked on her writing!! She has a really intriguing way of using words. I didn't like the first part of this book at all--but so glad I stayed with it!

Thanks for the note and the friend invitation :-) Where do you find these teas?? My favorite is Yorkshire Gold, but have to order it by mail. Sometimes I can find their other blend, Yorkshire tea (plain as opposed to Gold but very tasty), at Marshall's or TJ Maxx, but it's never a sure bet. I drink a couple of pots a day. What are you reading now? I'm reading Devoted Ladies by Molly Keane. I am a fairly slow reader, plus only have time to read in the PM. So irritating when there are so many books out there, waiting for me! Am leaving Sat. for SC but back Thursday. See you then!
