I'm happiest with a book in my hands!

Recently I have been sucked into the world of YA fiction. The Hungers Games series is one of my favorites! I also enjoy reading classics. Jane Eyre and Villette are two of my favorites. This year my goal is to read Anna Karenina.

I love getting recommendations from other readers. ... more »

One of the more enjoyable of the higher number novels.

I read book 1 (The Awakeing), haven't gotten around to reading book 2. I prefer the show to the books. The writing on the show is much better, in my opinion.

This book was really upsetting and disturbing to me...but still really good. I didn't think I would enjoy a book that was based on zombies...turns out I do/did. The zombies are just a part of the storyline and there is a lot more meat to it. Hard to explain, but it is really worth the read. I haven't decided if I'm going to read the second book in this series, mostly because I don't expect that I will soon forget the sadness that I feel at all of the loss and death in this book.

WARNING...this book has basically nothing to do with Tally Youngblood. Instead the story is based on a new character, Aya, and is also in a completely different setting (Japan). Because of these three things: (i) the main character; (ii) the lack of Tally; and (iii) it being in Japan, I can easily say that the book "Extras" is my least favorite of the Uglies series. Where the first three books took me a weekend to read, this last book took me about two weeks! I couldn't get into it...especially after dedicating so many hours to Tally and thinking that I would be reading about her again. A bit disappointing. I finished this book only because I wanted to be able to say that I read the ENTIRE Uglies series. If I had the choice again, I would probably opt to skip it altogether. Or actually, I would have preferred to not even know it existed. The ending of Specials was sufficient for me.

Good book, but I couldn't really get into it. A little too sci-fi for me.

One of my new favorite classics. It took me a while to really get into this one, but once I got past about page 250, I was hooked. This book is nothing like Jane Eyre and I think I like it all the more for that. It's a bit more realistic and bit more dark. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the classics or who just enjoys Bronte in general. It is said that this book is somewhat of an autobiography, which of course, makes it quite interesting. Now that I am finished with this book, I think I will take a few months and come back to re-read it. There are so many things that are intertwined without the reader knowing it and so many twists in plot, I really think the initiial read is just not enough.
