I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE books. I am a BIBLIOMANIAC!! I love the smell of the ink, the crack of a new spine and the crispness of the paper. Writers are my "Rock Stars". I am married with two children, a new puppy and eight cats (I have early on-set "crazy-lady" syndrome). I love to hang-out at my "bar" (local Barnes & Noble or Boarders). I... more »

I just rattles off police incident reports and judgements handed down. A real snooz. A "text book" type read. I couldn't finish this compacted police files of a book.

This was well researched and very interesting. A short read, with some good pictures and advertisements of the day.

A well told victorian mystery. It was hard to put this one down. I can't wait to read more from this author.

I'd give this book 2.5 stars if I could.... I was engaged in the book and found it interesting. The writing is well done, but the ending is a COMPLETE let down. What happened?? The story just... Stops. The middle of the book was disturbing in a perverse, uncomfortable, socially taboo way. This is the first Auster novel I have read... I doubt I will read another.

The book was overshadowed by its' redundancy. I felt as though I was reading the same line over and over again (CONSTANTLY...SNOOZE!), I let the repetivness usurpe my interest and it became a chore to read. This book could have been cut in half.

I am a Dicken's fan and felt as tho this book was "sputtering" and an overstated word filler. This was a struggle to read because it was like reading yesterday's news over, and over again. This author has definate potential and just fell short. This COULD have been an EXCELLENT book but was "padded" with "redudent, repetitive word fluff... SUCH a bummer!!...

Disturbingly twisted and Macabre... This woman makes Stephen King look like a pre-school children's author... Very Dark indeed!! Like a terrible accident you cannot turn away from. I finished this eerie tale in just one day and lay awake... Shivering. Even more frightening than her first novel.
