I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE books. I am a BIBLIOMANIAC!! I love the smell of the ink, the crack of a new spine and the crispness of the paper. Writers are my "Rock Stars". I am married with two children, a yellow lab and eight cats (I have early on-set "crazy-lady" syndrome). I love to hang-out at my "bar" (local Barnes & Noble). I usually stumble home late at night after I'm stupidly drunk on book ink, with a few caffeine chasers. Some mornings I wake blurry-eyed, and hung over. "We partied HARD last night." Yes,... I lead a crazy, "artsy" life... This is only the tip of the ice-burg. I hope someday to become a "Rock-Star" myself.
I am a VERY promiscuous reader... I will try to explain my bookshelf:
"All Books"... is just that...then you have..."Books I've Read"... Get it... and so on and so forth...What's next??? Hmmmmm... Oh Ya...!!! "I'm Reading"...exactly,,, Next to my bed, around the house, flip through when listening to the TV....You know... "Alone time." I can only have one novel, or "lover" at a time. No Cheating. There are some exceptions.... I read kid's books all the time and listen to iPod books while I work-out. I LOVE cook-books as well.
"Wish List"...Books I think look interesting from leering into everyone else's business around here. "Peeping Tom" books. "For a Good Time Call"... "You are an interesting, motley crew, you are."
"Books You Own" and "Books You Plan to Read"... Are about the same thing for me. I LOVE and BUY NEW books ALL THE TIME, everywhere. The new bookstores of course (home away from home), the grocery store, gas station. If the book is on my Plan To Read List... I own it! I AM A BOOK HOARDER!!! It feels good to get that out.
Yes, I love to spend HOURS in a book store. I usually like to buy new, so I can De-flower the pretty little precious myself... by cracking the spine, smelling her fresh little pages... So youthful, no age. So stiff and timid at first... finally, after some persuasion, she's yielding toward my advances.
Although... Finding an 'ol girl... beat up and spit out, in this lousy, one used bookstore crappy town... Bottom of the "Garage Sale" cardboard box... wavy edged, water stained, crinkly old book... Is also a GREAT find. Its like given' the old book one last "poke," before "book heaven". "I'll take you out in style..., I'll try and love every one of your yellow stained, mildew smelling pages of little writing." "Just you and me babe... to the end"
I then collect all of these books which have had "Their little cherries lovingly plucked from them," and send them to Half-Price Books (purgatory), where I bring home the "Homeless"... Whether 'ol whore homeless or fresh blood, with some kinky middle agers thrown in, who are still, "Lookin' to party?"
I want to make friends from around the world who feel the way I do about books. Or in some reasonable form.
P.S. My daughter likes to add books to my shelf that we read together. We collect Mercer Meyer books too.
1 star= CRAP...
2 stars= A step above CRAP
3 stars= Mindless, mind numbing lovable drivel... Like a bowl of fluffy little marshmallows. Sometimes I LOVE these little Cracker-Jacks. I like the spongy, bounciness, of these "Cube-u-lier" bubbles. Hydrocodone, valium books. Good Fluff!! "Complete and TOTAL one night stand."
4 stars= A GREAT READ, whether fluffy or more stuffy (I need these to replenish my mind after all the fluff.) I usually feel that It was a MORE than fair trade, for the price I paid ratio, to the entertainment value received. "Not embarrassed in the morning". "Here's my number."
5 stars= SPECTACULAR!!!!! "Money Shot baby!"
