Book-Lubber

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE books. I am a BIBLIOMANIAC!! I love the smell of the ink, the crack of a new spine and the crispness of the paper. Writers are my "Rock Stars".
I am married with two children, six cats, and a very fat black lab.
I love to hang-out at my "bar" (local Barnes & Noble or Boarders). I usually stumble home late at... more »

I discovered Laurie Notaro on your shelf and decided to give her a try. So I checked out Autobiography of a Fat Bride from the library (the only one we have by her) and now I'm HOOKED! She is HILARIOUS! I can't wait to read the rest of her books (I may have to actually go out and buy them!) Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I am now a lifetime fan thanks to your shelf! :)

Well Hello neighbor, a wet rainy day for us. I bet you spend a lot of time in Webster at the book stores too. Small world ! Let me know if you hear of any author signings or other good events in the area.

Hello! Yes, the Virginia leaves are beautiful. I love it here. Do you enjoy living in Texas?

This is the first year I am a full-time novelist. That is my job, and that fells amazing to say. Before then, I worked as a journalist for our local newspaper.

Thank you so much for including me among your Shelfari friends!

Thanks a lot Book Lubber for the note.
Firstly I must say that non-muslims have been misguided.
I have a wife of 25 years and if you say then I shall ask her to answer any question you have about HIjab, women, their role in house hold and outside........you shall be surprised.
    My basic idea is that
Man needs marriage; a wife to take care of his house, raise children, etc. I like to treat her just as I want my sister to be treated by her husband; my daughter to be looked after by her husband and my mother to be cared for by my father. Because my wife is someone's daughter and sister before she wed me.
    That is general idea.
I shall reply other questions in due course.
My best wishes to you on your near future tour.
    Regards

The feedback has been wonderful. Most people seem to really like the book. The only complaint so far has been that the book is a bit dark, but I knew that when I started :)

Thanks so much for accepting my friend request. While I have you here, I was wondering . . . would you be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Hi Erin, I am just dropping by because I am finally excited about a book again! Gillian Flynn's Dark Places is keeping me up late these past nights, turning pages. I think I may finish it tonight! I just loved Sharp Objects and as I recall you did as well, but I think Dark Places may be even better! Have you read it yet? If not, I'd suggest checking it out. Now that fall is almost here, it's the perfect time to read another dark, gritty suspenseful murder mystery, no?

Thanks for asking the real question.
You see this is all wrong.
Women have all the rights to drive, not wear hijab and go to work as she pleases.
Several members of my family drives. Manytimes I ask my wife to learn driving but she is afraid so I cannot compel her; but my daughter can and my niece and many girls in our country go to work on their own cars, some on motor-bikes.
Actually there is misconception about Islam; I don't know how it came to be so.
We have women doctors, engineers, pilots, army officers, airforce pilots, navy staff in our country and many other muslim countries.
However there is an inbred character of women; they have different attitude to that of men. If you go to parties you will observe that men and women separate themselves naturally and make their own groups in which they talk on the subjects they like and men talk on the subjects they like. This is inherent, inbred and natural.
Please ask any question you have in mind and I shall be glad to reply.
My best wishes and regards with love for children and hugs to cats and lab.

What do you think about Flirting with Forty? I read it a couple months ago and really liked it. Not sure if you knew or not, but Lifetime actually made a movie from this book. The movie was pretty good too, but of course the book is always better. :)

Hey there-thanks for the book and gift. Grant starts school on Monday, and I will finally be free. Well, at least from 9-12 for the first week. Look forward to reading Bedlam, reading American Wife right now-REALLY good so far. I'm sure you are enjoying your quiet time. How did Isabel and Riley do this week? Caroline did fine (she loved her tea set), but Emily has had tears all week. She is a little worked up about everything at school. I'm sure it will calm down next week. Heard Riley had Ms. Jackson, that is who Emily had last year. She loved her. Anyway, thanks again and I'm off to meet Grant's teacher. Oh, happy for Dave, and heard you have a new ride!!! Congrats!
