A life long book lover- Historical Fiction is my favorite genre. I love book discussions, coming away with different perspecitives and interpretations than what I had picked up . Currently a stay at home mom to two, I try to read whenever I can, but never enough time, or peace, in my day! There is nothing better than losing yourself in a good... more »

    Hi, Becky.
Yes, I noticed that you also write reviews and I really appreciate that. I'm glad people rate books, but I like to know WHY they rated it 2* or 5*

Yes, tell your sister that at least one of my F2F book clubs in the Northern Milwaukee Suburbs is welcoming new members. She may be younger than the rest of us, but we don't care about age as long as you read and discuss the book. In case she's interested ... next meeting is October 19 and the book is White Oleander by Janet Fitch

I'm headed out for vacation first thing in the morning, so I'll be away from the computer for about a week.

    Happy reading!

Hi Becky, I'm 4th on the library list for "Girl In Translation". I'm looking forward to reading it. Thanks for "The Body Movers" series recommendation. I'm enjoying it very much. So glad that you loved "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" as much as I did. It certainly does withstand the test of time. Have you read "Sarah's Key"yet? I'm waiting until we get closer to book discussion time so it will be fresh on my mind, Cheryl

Hi Becky, sorry that you didn't like Valley Of the Dolls. I'm of your mother's generation and it was quite racy in the 60's. I just finished reading Eden Springs. It's historical fiction and I think you might like it. I read Winter Garden and have mixed feelings. The present day storyline was whiny but the mother's Russian back story was fascinating. Let me know what you think. See you next week at our book discussion. Cheryl

Hi Becky! I ordered the first Stephanie Bond book called Body Movers through the library Melcat system. I can't wait to read it. I read your review of the second in the series, 2 Bodies For the Price of 1. I'll order that one from Melcat when I'm done with the first. Thanks for the recommendation. Cheryl

Hi Becky. Thanks for your post re Lauren Grodstein's Friend of the Family. It seems that books that get great reviews by book publishers always end up being bad reviews for me. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who didn't get it!

Sounds like a good book! I am reading Have a New Kid by Friday and it has some really great ideas and I like it so far. So far haven't tried the stuff, but I think it is going to work...cross your fingers...I own it...B
