It's told (at least in part) in the child's voice, which I tired of. I'm interested in your reaction.
So how do you like 'Room?'
Is your mom Bembridge?
What's your feeling about The Dressmaker, so far? Is part of its charm the fact that the author has the same name as your mom?
Thanks for reminding me about this. Now I can look at your shelf to see the unpronouncable Scandinavian authors instead of you having to spell the names for me, only to have me lose the scrap of paper I wrote them on.
I started reading it late last night and can't put it down!!!! I bought it after lunch yesterday.
Lost was great!! Hang in there! Have a wonderful summer!
Hi Bob,Fancy meeting you here! You are definitely reading more adult fiction than I! Hope your year is winding up well!
Clearly I haven't figured out quite how to navigate this site, as many of my book selections appear twice and under two different categories. I'll keep trying!
I read a bunch at the same time because I just can't decide what I want to read. Plus, I read so gawl dern slowly so if I don't have more than one going I'm never going to read all the books I want to read.Good to hear that you're summer is going well. We had a blast in Victoria. Unfortunately it wasn't longer but we'll take what we can get. And besides that, we had such a good time with the time that we did have so I shouldn't complain. We had good weather for all but one day and we did everything that we wanted to do while we were there so I think it was a success.
I had two books with me - Bloodstone by Nate Kenyon and Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay but I didn't read either of them. We had really nice weather while we were there so we spent a good chunk of our time outside at the beach or on the pier or at the marina. We took a walk to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory too.I would like to pick up my books and read some more. I'm over half done Bloodstone, just started Dexter, I have The Dark Tower: Book Two started and I'm over half done Lisey's story too. And then there are the books that I want to start reading as well that I just can't get to until I finish some of the ones that are already on the go.How was your vacation?
Well I'll have to give it a look then if it's David Gale slow because I really liked that movie.Desperation and The Regulators have almost the exact same characters in them but at different times in their lives. Some that were children are grown and vice versa. One he wrote as Bachman, one as King.I'll try to read the Zombie book... not sure when though.I haven't even heard of David Sedaris... have to give him a look too.
Is it The Life of David Gale slow or Being Human slow? Because I can handle The Life of David Gale slow but I will do something rash if I have to deal with Being Human slow. There are three Stephen King books that I can think of that were engaging within the first few pages; Bag of Bones, Desperation and The Regulators. In Bag of Bones he starts with the scene where Mike's wife is out walking home from the store and a garbage truck moving out of control comes barreling down the road. She ends up dead but not from the garbage truck. She has an embolism of some kind. In Desperation it's the scene where that couple is driving on the deserted road and they get stopped by the cop that isn't a cop and he adds scary sentences to their miranda rights. And in Desperation it's the scene right at the beginning when the kid is delivering newspapers and within five pages (I think) he's lying dead on someone's lawn, shot in the head. All three of those shows are great!I did read Gerald's Game. Too long ago to remember now though. What is "the zombie book"? Have you read Cell by Stephen King? There are some zombie like creatures in that one too. It's a great story as well.
I really need to go over my shelf a bit. It should be under the "I plan to read" section. It's on my wish list too. I should just go to the library and pick it up. I am trying to read a bit more lately though because I have too many that I want to get through. I'm trying to finish Lisey's Story... so in answer to your question yes, it is a love story but it's a love story King style. It takes a bit to get into but it does get better as you move into it. I'm also reading "Bloodstone" by Nate Kenyon which is very good as well. He's got another one coming out in January called "The Reach" and I'm really looking forward to that one.I haven't read A Simple Plan yet though. I want to read it but, again, trying to get through some others. I haven't even seen that movie! Stace isn't interested so maybe I'll have to rent it sometime.
I haven't read Lisey's story yet but you could ask some of the people in the group. I know at least a couple of them have read it.
Yeah, Bob... join the Stephen King group... join us... join us...It's been a fun group so far!
Hi, I saw a note you posted to someone else about loving Stephen King. We are trying to build a group his fans, Are you interested? Stop by the Stephen King Group and check us out.You have a nice shelf, I noticed we have several books in common.Happy reading! Kim
Hey Bob Cowan, it's Karen Thorsrud - I read your note to Lana as I was posting her a memo and saw that you were here too. I did read Life of Pi and loved it - hope all is well with you in your part of the world (where ever that is).
