Poseidon and the Sea of Fury (Heroes in Training)

    by Joan Holub, Suzanne Williams
    • Rated 5 stars

Yeah, as you can see, I’m on a Joan Holub & Suzanne Williams reading roll! Being sick, these series seems to be my comfort read. It’s a delightful wonderfulness for me.

I do wish it expands on Poseidon's character rather than Zeus o.o

  • Why Me?
    • Rated 4 stars

The only reason I've picked up this book was... the reference Amazon Kindle was giving out via my account. (after reading The Child called It) I was in a what to read next dilemma since I was reading the last book through like a breeze. I couldn't just ignore the eyes on the cover.

  • My Life at Rose Red
    • Rated 4 stars

This has been a hard book to finish for me. I have honestly say, this is my third attempt to read it and even that i have managed to slip in a couple of books to read in between.

It's a good book actually, regardless me having a hard time with it, but it is a good read. Interesting plot, but it doesn't really pull me in. Joanna is a pain in the ass and I like to smack Ellen half the time while reading it. The plot is of course mostly centered in infidelity and deception, not to forget a living house. I just wish it isn't too light, but what to do, since it's formated as a "journal" in the first place.

omg! I pulled this out of the shelves to read because we had a storm and tv with the internet is off. And I never thought it is this much of a page turner.

It's about a life of Matthew Bourne, a human right activist who is trying to save the life of Jarawa. In the midst of trying to do this, his own life is falling apart. He has live-in artist partner with a daughter, and on the side a mistress of his own. He found out his partner is sleeping with somebody else.

it was kind of annoying at firts because it took me a few chapters to realized what's exactly is going on. but it's a good past time reading. some plot really do pull you into the book itself.

This is a "journalistic" form of a novel, written by it's "owner", 16 year old Jessica Darling, who is coping the new year with the her bestfriend, Hope Weaver, moving away from Pineville, New Jersey, only to be stuck with the Clueless Crew (I'm not kidding), her obsessing about track sports Dad, her mother who's into her sister's wedding, her ex-boyfriend, Scott who either wants to get back to her or just friends, her non existant lover, then none the expected least; there's Marcus "Krispy Kreme" Flutie. To add it up, none of her friends understands her and of course she couldn't stand ay of them but have no choice but bear it all. But in this lot of mess Marcus suddenly came out from the background and actually, much to her messed-up state, talk to her.

Jessica Darling a character any girls could relate to and of course this could be a guide for the boys to venture into the minds of most "sane" girls. Her problems and her thoughts, written in this novel in a "journalistic" form, would make you sit down and just read it through until you're reached the last page. That is how good of a page turner this book is.

Don't let the title and front cover throw you off, like it did me. It's a fun book and a page turner. Jessica would pull you into her thoughts and the plots are easily to.

  • Fantastic Mr. Fox
    • Rated 5 stars

This is one of those backyard gardens tales, featuring the ever so clever and resourceful Mr. Fox who frequently outsmarted three most unpleasant farmers, namely Boggis, Bunce and Bean, each time he went up to their farms to get his family dinner everyday. The farmes did whatever he coud so they could catch Mr. Fox but everytime they failed.

One day, they ended up fed up with their failures on catching Mr Fox, so they tried to get him at their entrance hole to the Foxes den. Their plan wa sto shoot and kill as Mr. Fox shows himself, but the plan changed to digging him up. In result, they trapped Mr. Fox and his family and other "diggers" starve by the farmers action. Mr Fox could only make this up to his family and the rest of his friends by digging his way out of trouble. While he digs out his brilliant plan, the thre farmers just sits patiently at the gates.

Once again, an awesome story for kids, not quite a morally uplifting book but it's an awesome book I enjoyed reading and I be placing this in the list of books I would be reading to my future kids for them to enjoy this gem. Got to love the front cover. Interesting characters and great plots for kids to actually enjoy.

  • Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes
    • Rated 5 stars

Dr Seuss is nothing in comparison to Roald Dahl in REVOLTING RHYMES. I actually had fun reading this book so did the kids I read it to. There are a few words I have to explain but it didn't take out the fun of the book. This book plays around with a few of the very known fairy tales known by kids and swing it around in an interesting parody.

The list of the fairy tales with a twist that are being fetaured in this book:

    1. Cinderella
    2. Jack & the Beanstalk
    3. Snow Queen & the seven dwarfs
    4. Goldilocks & the three bears
    5. Little Red Riding Hood & the Wolf
    6. The Three Little Pigs

The characters are hilarious and you will enjoy the different look of the old age fairy tales that you knew. So spread the word, buy a copy for yourself, read it to the children. Anyway, you won't regret this particular book.

  • The Twits
    • Rated 5 stars

Just the title, THE TWITS, attracted me to this particular book, and with an illustration in the front cover, who wouldn't be curious! It was another coincidence when I picked up to read this book when it was Roald Dahl's Day!

THE TWITS is the story of a couple of, well, twits! Mr Twit is has a nasty, unhygenic, ugly beard and Mrs Twit could be recognized by her glass eye, who lived in a windowless house. They have four pet monkeys, and a huge dead tree where they catch the birds for their weekly bird pie. to past time, they love to play tricks on each other.

When enough is enough, the four monkeys strategize a plan to turn the tables on the Twits with an interesting plan.

I must admit, the best part of this book, was the part where it says, no matter how you look like physically, if you're a good person, it would shine through and that would makes you a beautiful person.

THE TWITS is a really good read and people in every ages should try pick up this book and take you time to read it. It is worth your time.
