We have title conventions. Check out Editing Guidelines, Policies, and Helpful Hints at http://www.shelfari.com/groups/59851/about
The titles would need to be "Faust - Part 1", etc.
Just to be clear - Editions entitled "Faust" are equivalent in content to the combination of parts 1 and parts 2.
If a member has these in the separate editions (Part 1 and Part 2), then he will, in fact, have 2 separate "books" on his shelf.
Based on this decision, it is also inappropriate to list this as a series. The books are "partials" of a whole, not a series of books with a continuing theme.
Make sense? If you wish to work on this for us, please join Catalog Clean-up Special Projects at http://www.shelfari.com/groups/63223/about
This specific "project" in under the thread - labeled "[In Progress] (Editions Tab Cleanup) Miscellaneous Titles - Second Entry (same OP as the original) "
If you do join, please read the thread "TOS" first so you'll know how this is being managed.
Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
I haven't read the work so I'm going by Shelfari convention here...
1) editions entitled just "Faust" should be assumed to be the entire work and combined with editions that say things such as Part 1 and Part 2.
2) editions entitled "part 1" should be combined together.
3) editions entitled "part 2" should be combined together.
The titles of the combined editions should reflect what is in that combined edition. So: Faust, Faust - Part 1, and Faust - Part 2.
Does this sound correct based on your knowledge of the work?

Hi,
Help me understand your naming and combination decisions for http://www.shelfari.com/books/1002043/Faust-%281%29/history
This is very confusing to me and I have just set up a special clean-up project that I now realize would undo your work. You can see that special project description at http://www.shelfari.com/groups/63223/discussions/250963/%5BIn-Progress%5D-%28Editions-Tab-Cleanup%29-Miscellaneous-Titles?showall=true#4990497 (it is about halfway down from the top of that large posting.)
I'll remove that special project if you help me understand how editions labeled as Part 1 are the same thing as editions labeled "Part 1 and Part2" and well as though simply labeled "Faust; a Tragedy" or "Goethe's Faust."
Thanks!

I modified your request to list Dave Eggers as the author of It Is Right To Draw Their Fur: Animal Renderings to also list him as the artist. Because I modified your request, it may show up as "rejected" in your edit summary. I didn't reject your request, I just modified it. Thanks for your help in making the Shelfari catalog more accurate.
Hi Christine, I've just been processing some of your combination requests, and you'll find I rejected some of the Shakespeare edits. The problem is that many of the selected works are either adapted versions, or study guides. Neither of which should be combined with the original play. If you're interested, you can find some editing guidelines here: http://www.shelfari.com/groups/59851/discussions/252910/3---Editions-Combination-Edit-Requests?showall=true#5050266 .
Thanks for all your great work,

Your screen name should be easy to remember. I had a buddy on here for a long time from Bucharest, but she suddenly dropped off the map for no apparent reason. It's good to have new friends...

Hi,
We hit a server limit on your combine request for Kafka's Metamorphosis. An Engineer will have to do this manually so it may be quite some time before you see the remainder of the approval note. You'll see a partial one soon.
Thanks for all your work on the catalog!
