Lindsey

Hello! (*´▽`*)ノ" My name is Lindsey and some of my favorite things are: reading and eating in bed, being alone, warm weather and sunshine, reading Haruki Murakami late at night, moss, cupcakes, taking photos, cutesy Japanese things, water front living, and listening to COAST TO COAST AM.

heya - i had to drop you a note - norwegian wood is amazing - i can see why it's your favorite - the characters are haunting me. i just finished "what i talk about..." and **loved** it. just read nami mun's "miles from nowhere" yesterday - - worthwhile. i'm curious about Chronicle of a Plague - - how did it read?

i just finished kafka and *loved* it. i'm reading 'what i talk about...' next (training for a marathon myself - apt) and will read norwegian wood at the same time (on your recommendation!). i'm reading 'dead until dark' right now too - just noticed you posted it too. first book of its kind that i've read! i can't stop thinking about kafka though....really - keeps me up at night.

I've only read "South of the Border, West of the Sun" and didn't really like it ... but I hear I shouldn't judge Murakami based on that particular book. I'll definitely check out the three you've rec'd (they're always out at the library, I noticed) so thank you!!

There were used to be some great authors in America...I think this whole modern society lacks of good writers!Yeah it's a peaceful world now(most of it),but ppl are becoming less sensitive about life and the world, now most ppl publish books for money and fame, thats why their books are trashy, idk if i should even call them writers!

Yeah so many ppl like Midori because she is just like most ppl ,simple ,easy understanding and maybe kind of vulgar...I cant see any special about her,but that's excactly why ppl like her.. Naoko is very sensitive, quiet, lonely, she always doubts life and thinks too much, "what I was feeling was right, that we are in here not to correct the deformation but to accustom ourselves to it: that one of our problems was our inability to recognize and accept our own deformities." It's really easy to find something in common with Naoko ,just like the feeling Toru had about Hatsumi,"she had some quality that could send a tremor through your heart,What
she had stirred in me was a part of my very self that had long lain dormant.“ And it's hard to have the same feeling about Midori!

I guess I talked too much:) Anyway ,Haruki Murakami is one of my favorate Japanese writers, He has such a special style...

PS: You have such a good taste about books, hope I can get to know you!

Hey...I found you like Norwegian wood too

"I think I may be the only person in the world who dislikes Midori!” haha I want to say fragile naoko is my fav character and I dont like midori at all! I dont think too many ppl in the world could understand naoko's depression, hopelessness and her suicide.

Hey!! Well, the books are ... well, they're written from the perspective of an adolescent, which means there's a lot of ridiculous slang (adult authors never get it right) and "um, duh" moments. For this reason I found them a trifle annoying to read. But if you're into Greco-Roman myth, you'll probably like the medleys of modern pop culture and ancient monsters, myths and odysseys. They're pretty quick reads anyways, so you won't be losing a lot of time if you check the first one out. :)

(p.s. I've basically abandoned livejournal. I should make note of that officially soon.)

Yes, haha, I do. They are so unbelievably ridiculous but I can't get enough of silly teen paranormal romance novels. I blame Twilight though none of them are as good as the Twilight series was!
