I used to hate reading. In fact, I avoided it at all costs and I can count the number of books I read in high school on one hand. It wasn't until I read the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling that I started to somewhat enjoy reading. The true catalyst for my love of reading, however, was the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, which I first read in June 2007. Thanks to the wonderful world she created, I now enjoy reading more than any of my other hobbies.
It's probably no surprise that Stephenie Meyer and JK Rowling are among my favorite authors. I also like Brodi Ashton, Kristin Cashore, Cassandra Clare, Suzanne Collins, Bree Despain, Stephanie Perkins, Melanie Rawn, and Maggie Stiefvater.
I enjoy reading books in the fantasy, romance, science fiction, historical fiction, mystery, thriller, and adventure genres the most. However, since I'm fairly new to reading, I'm sure other genres will pique my interest as well.
