I used to hate reading. I avoided reading at all costs and I can count the number of books I read in high school on one hand. (I read Cliff Notes to help me pass my book tests.) It wasn't until I discovered Mary Higgins Clark that I started to somewhat enjoy reading. I started to enjoy reading even more so when I read the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. However, the true catalyst for my love of reading was the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, which I first read in June 2007. Thanks to the wonderful world she created, I now enjoy reading more than any of my other hobbies.
It's probably no surprise that Stephenie Meyer and JK Rowling are among my favorite authors. I also like Melanie Rawn, Suzanne Collins, Kristin Cashore, Cassandra Clare, and Maggie Stiefvater. I enjoy reading Mary Higgins Clark, but none of her books are considered a favorite. So, I don't feel like I can count her as a favorite author. I enjoy reading books in the fantasy, romance, science fiction, historical fiction, mystery, thriller, and adventure genres the most. However, since I'm fairly new to reading, I'm sure other genres will pique my interest as well.
Please feel free to recommend great books. And, feel free to visit my blog at http://www.jennielyse.com (comments welcome).
