I am a reader. I am a writer. That is how I see myself and how I will describe myself to anyone who asks!!! I gobble up books as fast as I can and am usually reading 2 or 3 at a time. I have to read--I am unbearable to be around if I have not done a little reading during the day; I even bring books to work to read during lunch! I am having... more »

Thank you for the Brief History of the Dead recommendation from a while back.. just got to it and I couldn't put it down!

P.S. Noticed you picked up Spot of Bother. It's very different from "Curious Incident of the Dog..." but I hope you like it, as it is one of my all-time favorites. The characters are so wonderfully developed. Let me know how it goes!

Yeah, I started thinking that way after I posted that last note. This is a place for book nerds, so we should get our book nerd on here! Shall I set it up, then?

You know, you are totally right. As usual. ;) I was thinking of setting up a Myspace page for the sole purpose of discussing books. Our members could message me their picks for the book selection, I could post them in a blog, and everyone could message me a private vote so we could decide. Then, when the book is read, we could write about it in the blog, going back and forth in discussion. What do you think? Of course, I'll have to veto any books about Henry VIII or Anne Boleyn... ;)

interesting. Though not having read "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" myself, I was informed of its originality and impeccable tenderness. One of my friends who has a sister with Downe's syndrome said the book was touching and emotional. She didn't say anything about the writing style though.. hmm. My advice: continue with the scepticism, that way you're not disapointed in the end. :)
On the other end, I just finished "The Celibate" - and it was quite powerful of a read. A real spiritual journey. (it probably would have been more understandable and more relatable if I were a gay priest... but hey, the storyline was great anyway).

I have not picked up yet, I added it to my list that, I must admit, is too long already. I will start it after I finish with my current read 'The Celibate' and my next-on-list 'Anna Karenina'
