Listened to this book on CD - a very talented, multi-voiced reader performed the text. A must for Lewis fans, reminiscent of The Screwtape Letters.

  • People Buy You: The Real Secret to what Matters Most in Business

Built around the mantra: people buy for emotional reasons and then validate later with logic, this book is an excellent reminder that it is about you - people want to work with people they like.

This is the text I use in teaching the Introduction to Real Estate course at UNC. Extremely comprehensive and supported by a valuable McGraw Hill website.

Thought-provoking, well-researched essay on the future of the Internet. The author claims that the Internet is still (only) in its caveman days, and presents his ideas of how it will evolve. Somewhat technical in parts, I think it is required reading for all entrepreneurs.

In the end, probably not worth the effort. I had to stick with it in the beginning, and although the middle and end portion moved along, the payoff wasn't worth it. Perretti has a detailed storytelling style, and he chose a plot related to time travel that was not easily comprehended. As a result, I had to skim through some parts, hoping for more dialogue.

  • Through My Eyes

Listened to the audiobook. It's interesting to listen to the autobiography of a 24-year old: a lot of time is spent talking about Mom & Dad, growing up, details of high school football games. As a UF alum and Tebow fan, I enjoyed hearing his perspective on the glory years as a Gator. It's heavy on the evangelism but not offensive. The reader made a couple of comical gaffes in pronunciation - seems like they would have been caught if Tim listened to his own book.

  • The Wolf Gift
    • Rated 4 stars

After Anne Rice wrote the two books about Jesus that I had just read, she returned to her Gothic horror roots and wrote The Wolf Gift. Arrrgghh! Because I knew she was still evaluating her beliefs in God, I could feel the author's groping for the meaning of God, evil, conscience, etc. In some ways, this was like watching Anne Rice test out her new theories, and became a little tiresome for me. On the other hand, she is an able storyteller and, as always, conveys the fruits of her extensive research. I give the book four stars, averaging between storytelling (5 stars) and theological groping (3 stars). I listened to the book on tape and enjoyed that version very much.
