The magic in the story of Krishna pulls every Indian author towards itself. K M Munshi, one of the greatest Gujarati authors does justice to this pull in 7 volumes of Krishnavatar. While the descriptions and stories in this volume are simplistic and overtly childish, the story picks up pace from the next volume.

Highly recommended to anyone who is fascinated by the story of Krishna and does not have access to Harivansha or Mahabharata in the original form.

Highly over-rated book. Useful only if you have big-time problem against changing. Wouldn't recommend wasting your time on it. Though, it doesn't take so much of your time.

Few books hit you so hard that it pains even after you have forgotten the story. 1984 is one of those books.

Reading this book is not a passive activity. Author pushes you to throw you along with all your beliefs across the fire of this book and challenges you to come out clean on the other side. Beliefs and perceptions you held close to your heart. Your belief that government should handle the appropriation of wealth for upliftment all strata of society bursts to pieces.

This book is about immense power that system can exert on your souls. Wonderful story of two lovers who committed to each other that they will betray each other but will never stop loving each other. The peak of the book is in the couplet-

"I sold you and you sold me,
    under the growing chestnut tree"
