A little about little me

I am a technical writer
Like Pynchon,
who wrote safety instructions
for missiles
before seizing the pot of gold
at the end of gravity's rainbow
from disgusted judges.

I am middle-aged,
middle-browed with frown lines,
thickening around the middle.
I am a litterateur,
poetaster,
dilettante and hack
I am a background ghost
whispering Rhubarb, Rhubarb
in deserted theaters
after the cleaner finishes up.

I am an essential cultural consumer
not drawing focus
from the talent.
But I've a dirty, dirty secret: I aspire to truly write.
